Traveling An Airport With An Infant: Take #2

Hey Y'all, I'm home from our trip to Maryland & back into our daily routine. In the past 3 months we have traveled a ton with Carter Cole, he's been on a road trip from Pensacola to Maryland, 8 flights & traveled through 11 states. Instead of revising my previous post I'm going to share what I learned while traveling an airport with an infant: Take #2. I feel like every adventure with Carter Cole, whether it's a quick errand or one that keeps us out of the house all day is a learning experience. I'm constantly trying to make sure that we avoid as many hiccups while out of the house as possible. Each time we travel it's getting easier & easier because we've found a "routine" & we learned from our previous travels. Here's what I learned while traveling an airport with an infant: Take #2.

On our first family vacation my husband Bo traveled with us. Carter Cole & I flying to Maryland happened just a couple weeks after Bo returned back to work & I missed having an extra set of hands to help with Carter Cole. Thankfully he loves being in our Tula baby carrier & during our travels it saved the day. I was able to carry Carter Cole & have both hands free for airport security check points, restroom breaks, layovers & boarding. Carter Cole was awake for most of our travels & was able to see out of the carrier as we walked around the airport. When Carter Cole fell asleep for a nap he was cozy on my chest & I was still able to have both hands free. Airports can be fast paced & some what noisy, carrying your little one in a carrier may create a more comforting feeling for them. The only time you're not allowed to wear your infant in a baby carrier is during your flights take off & landing. If you are planning to travel with your infant & you haven't used your baby carrier yet you should try it out at home around the house or wear it out during your next errand to make sure you both feel comfortable using it!
One or two hour layovers in between flights are now considered a blessing since traveling with Carter Cole. During each of our travels we've had at least one flight that was delayed which meant we rushed through an airport to catch our next flight. Our flight from Pensacola to Houston during our trip to Oregon was delayed so our 45 minute layover was now only 15 minutes. Our flight from Baltimore to Nashville during our trip home to Pensacola was delayed so our 30 minute layover was now only 5 minutes. The entire layover time was spent rushing to our next gate to board which wasn't enjoyable with an infant. When booking flight tickets, compare flights with a long enough layover to allow time to get to your next gate, a diaper change, bathroom break for you, grab a bite to eat & let your infant stretch out before boarding your next flight. Keep in mind that flight delays are out of your control, however how you handle that time with your infant is in your control! While at our gate during our layovers, I laid a blanket on the floor for Carter Cole to play with his toys, I had a bite to eat & we both stretched out before boarding our next flights.
You'll need to pack your infants birth certificate or proof of birthday & I learned this one the hard way since I left Carter Cole's at home. I was so mad at myself for being forgetful since we had just traveled across country & I packed it for that trip. I am so thankful for the airline ticket agent, she was nice enough to calm me down & informed me that a picture of his birth certificate or hospital bracelet would work as proof! We included Carter Cole's hospital bracelet in his newborn photos so I had a picture already stored on my phone to make it through security. If I wouldn't have had a picture we would have had to wait for my husband or a family member to send one before we could walk through the security check point.

You should try to change your infants diaper before boarding your flight. Most airport restrooms have at least one full-size diaper changing table or a family restroom with a changing table for your convenience. I suggest you take advantage of having the space to change your infants diaper while you can! I made it a point to change Carter Cole's diaper before each of our scheduled boarding times to eliminate the amount of diaper changes in-flight. Make sure you allot yourself enough time to be back at the gate before scheduled boarding starts, especially if the airline you are flying offers pre-boarding for small children. Diaper changes for us require a changing pad, a diaper & wipes to all be pulled out of our diaper bag & airplane lavatories don't always have a changing table (here begins your juggling lessons). Fortunately for us each of the airplane lavatories had a fold out changing table.. in the case that they didn't I was prepared to get creative! Even though we boarded with a clean diaper I have to admit that I changed two stinky diapers in-flight during our travels to & from Maryland thanks to Carter Cole.

Carter Cole was awake on our flights this trip & showed no interest in falling asleep. I was prepared with a pre-made bottle or pacifier for take off & landing & toys in case Carter Cole wanted everyone to know he was on the plane. I packed a new toy in his diaper bag, one that he hadn't got to hold or slobber on yet! Since Carter Cole had just turned 2 months he started showing an interest in holding & grabbing for toys & it was the best decision EVER! I brought a stuffed elephant we now call "Abe", it has bright colors, jingles & rattles so each time he grabs it makes a different sound. It kept his attention for at least 15 minutes of each flight & during our layovers. Pack plenty of entertainment for your infant to distract them from sitting in one place for the length of your flight. We were fortunate to sit next to nice people on all of our flights who talked & interacted with Carter Cole so the rest of the time not playing with toys he stayed entertained with funny faces & peekaboo from our row neighbors!

Flying with an infant doesn't have to be a dreadful experience. Keep in mind that you can always ask for help! The airline ticket agents & flight attendants are there to help if you have any questions or need assistance!

Traveling with Carter Cole has actually been enjoyable & I may be planning our next family vacation already! If you have suggestions for our future travels leave them in the comments!

Traveling An Airport With An Infant

Hey Y'all, Since we just traveled to the West Coast & back with a two month old for vacation and survived to tell about it I'm going to share what I learned while traveling an airport with an infant. If you'd like to see where we traveled on Our First Family Vacation see my previous post.

In the weeks leading up to our vacation I felt a great deal of anxiety.. we were preparing to fly across country & travel with an infant. I'm not going to lie I was extremely nervous about flying with Carter Cole. I have flown plenty of times in my life however this was my first time ever traveling with a infant. The most important thing I learned while traveling an airport with Carter Cole was to be prepared!

Whenever I travel I have a tendency to over-pack. A baby requires a large amount of items for 14 days of travel so I knew I was bound to over-pack in the end. And yes, I did over-pack. When I travel I usually try & fit everything in a carry-on that wasn't happening this time. The last thing I wanted to do was carry a baby, an over-packed suitcase & a diaper bag through the airport. I recommend checking a suitcase it's worth the $25.00 bag fee & it was the best decision I made on our trip. I packed only the necessities in the diaper bag & packed the rest of Carter Cole's items in the suitcase! Our diaper bag had six 6oz. bottles of water, pre-measured powder formula for each bottle, plenty of diapers & wipes, disinfectant wipes, hand sanitizer, a changing pad, 2 pacifiers & pacifier clips, a baby blanket, two burp cloths, an extra outfit for Carter Cole (just in case the unfortunate happened), extra t-shirts for Bo & I, my cellphone, wallet & the Tula baby carrier. I ended up over packing diapers & wipes in the diaper bag but my biggest fear was running out of these items while traveling through the airport. Since I only packed enough diapers & formula for our travel day & to last until I could get to a store, we bought Carter Cole diapers & formula while on vacation so it didn't take up suitcase space.
Your infants food is considered "medically necessary liquids" & is exempt from the 3.4 ounces liquid rule but is subject to additional screening. Inform the TSA officer at the beginning of the security check point that you have liquids for your infant in your carry-on. I packed enough bottles for Carter Cole to eat on his normal 2-3 hour feeding schedule. The bottles were sent through an additional screen in TSA because of the water in the bottles but it was worth it since we didn't have to buy water for Carter Cole at the airport. This process only added a couple minutes to our security check point. For additional information on the TSA procedures for traveling with children/ infants I suggest you visit the website. I kept the bottles in Carter Cole's diaper bag in a gallon size Ziploc bag. It proved to be the easiest way for us to get them out of the diaper bag for security check points.
Carter Cole loves being in our Tula baby carrier & it worked out for us that I was able to wear Carter Cole in the carrier through the airport & on the airplane. I recommend wearing your infant in a baby carrier. I was so relieved that Carter Cole was asleep each time we went through airport security in our Tula & that I was able to keep him in the carrier. I was sent through an additional screen in TSA because of the baby carrier but it was worth it since Carter Cole stayed asleep. I am so thankful that the TSA officers were so helpful & friendly to our little family each time we went through security, it helped eliminate some nerves.
Even though Carter Cole was asleep in the baby carrier both times we went through airport security it was so convenient for me to be dressed appropriately! I wore slip on shoes & a t-shirt. I didn't have to sit down to take off my shoes & I didn't have to take any layers off which made it that much easier to make it through the security check point in a timely manner. I am so thankful for the t-shirt that I wore because I didn't get over heated or uncomfortable while Carter Cole slept on me in the baby carrier.

I was fortunate enough to have an extra set of hands to help with Carter Cole during our travels. Having my husband Bo with us was such a blessing! Being able to do the "hand off" with Carter Cole when he wasn't in the baby carrier made things so much easier. If you're traveling alone with a infant it can make things more challenging but trust that it can be done. I'll be doing the airport adventure alone in a couple days to visit family & I'm going to miss being able to pass Carter Cole between the two of us. Wish me luck!

The hand sanitizer & disinfectant wipes became my best friend during our travels! It didn't take me long to realize how dirty airports & airplanes are. I didn't want Carter Cole to be exposed to more than his little immune system could handle. I wiped down the changing tables before Carter Cole & the changing pad touched them. I wiped down the tray table, seat buckles, arm rests, lights & air buttons, & the safety information on the airplane. Bo & I reapplied hand sanitizer as well. Yes, I was "that mom" fighting germs & I was not ashamed!

We borrowed the larger baby items from family & friends while on vacation so that we didn't have to fly with them. Carter Cole slept in a pack & play for most of our vacation, used the baby swing & bouncy seat similar to the ones we left behind at home. Carter Cole had a car seat to ride in when we arrived at our destination so we didn't have to carry one through the airport. I'm thankful that I didn't have to add these baby items to my packing list. It was convenient for us since we didn't have to carry anything through the airport or worry about the items at the gate or baggage claim. In the case that you have to travel with an infant car seat I suggest you read the TSA requirements regarding infant car seats & strollers before you travel.

If you can, plan your flights around nap or bed time. Carter Cole slept during all of our flights! Hallelujah! Our flights to Portland were during a time when Carter Cole normally slept so he had no problem sleeping through the flights. One of our flights home to Pensacola was during his nap time & we had the same luck! If Carter Cole would have been awake & fussy for our flights I was fully prepared with a pre-made bottle or pacifier. *Drinking & swallowing helps your infant with the pressure changes that he/she will likely feel in their ears. As we boarded our final flight home Carter Cole was awake, fussy & crying. He drank a bottle as soon as we got seated, calmed down & following take off fell right to sleep! What a relief, the pre-made bottle came in very handy for us. If you can't plan your flights around times when baby sleeps I recommend that you have food, toys or entertainment ready!

Also, don't stress.. I learned this one the hard way. Remember that the passengers on the airplane with children of their own will understand if baby gets upset or cries, they know what you are going through. The passengers who don't understand don't matter since you probably won't see them again! If your infant decides to add some hiccups to your airport travels, take a deep breath! You'll be able to laugh about your travels after the fact I promise!

I was so worried how Carter Cole would do during our travels & he ended up sleeping most of the time! It was such a blessing that I was able to enjoy our airport adventure traveling with an infant. Carter Cole is becoming an experienced traveler one trip/ vacation at a time! If you have suggestions for our future travels leave them in the comments!

Our First Family Vacation

Hey Y'all! It's been just over a month since my last post & time has just flown by for us since Carter Cole was born. Carter Cole turned two months old while we were on our first family vacation!

In August, we spent two weeks on the West Coast visiting family and friends in Oregon & Washington State. The trip included flights from Pensacola to Portland, a 6 hour drive from Oregon to Washington and back and flights from Portland to Pensacola.

We were blessed with gorgeous weather during our time spent on the West Coast. We visited so many beautiful places. Here is our vacation in pictures ..

While in Scio, Oregon we drove the covered bridge tour. Scio is known as the "Covered Bridge Capital of the West". We visited Gilkey Bridge (constructed in 1939), Larwood Bridge (constructed in 1939), Hannah Bridge (constructed in 1936) & Shimanek Bridge (constructed in 1966).

During our visit to Scio, Oregon we also visited long time family friends who own & operate - Fir Ridge Holstein Farm. We were given a tour of the dairy farm & were invited to pet the baby cows.

We went for a hike at Silver Creek Falls in Silverton, Oregon.

On our drive from Oregon to Washington we stopped in Big Foot Country to see Mount St. Helens.

During our visit to Whidbey Island we stayed with family friends in Oak Harbor, Washington. We spent an afternoon at Deception Pass State Park. We dropped crab pots in the Puget Sound & enjoyed dungeness crab for dinner. We visited the Wharf Downtown Coupeville, Washington. We visited a West Coast beach which was a first for my husband & Carter Cole and we saw the Graffiti Wall at West Beach.

We took the Mukilteo Ferry from South Whidbey Island across the Puget Sound to Seattle. This was another first for my husband & for Carter Cole. We spent the day exploring Downtown Seattle .. we saw the Space Needle, the Freemont Troll, Pike Place Market, the Market Theater Gum Wall, the Seahawks and Mariners Stadiums & the original Starbucks.

Fortunately for our little family, my parents will be moving to the West Coast soon enough so this won't be our last vacation there. I am thankful that all of our West Coast family & friends were able to meet Carter Cole during our visit. We truly enjoyed spending our time with all of you! We couldn't have asked for a better trip to close out our summer. Thank you for reading about the #nesmithfamilyvacation.

PS: All of our day trips on our vacation will be highly recommended! We had so much fun each day exploring somewhere different and now we have the pictures & memories to show for it!

The Awaited Arrival of Carter Cole

Hey Y'all, Carter Cole is 5 weeks old & our newborn baby doesn't seem so newborn anymore! Looking back, my labor & delivery didn't go anything like how I had pictured it in my mind or planned for that matter but I guess that's the beauty in it all. We have a perfect baby boy! Carter Cole's birth story included a lot of waiting & by that I mean Carter Cole decided to make his awaited arrival 9 days past his due date!

Saturday, June 13, 2015
For it being Carter Cole's due date I was extremely patient. Yes, at 40 weeks pregnant I was being patient. I was anxious to meet Carter Cole but I was okay with the thought of not inducing labor and being patient a little while longer. I just kept telling myself over & over that Carter Cole would make his arrival when he & my body were ready to begin labor. Earlier that week at my 39 week doctor's appointment I hadn't began to dilate. I was having very minor irregular contractions & some aches and pains in my hips and lower back. With no major labor activity we spent the day out in Perdido Key at the beach front pool swimming & soaking up some sun. Carter Cole's due date came & went so we continued waiting.

Tuesday, June 16, 2015
Our 40 week doctor's appointment was scheduled week's earlier when I started being seen on a weekly basis in the last weeks of pregnancy & as I wrote this appointment in my planner I laughed thinking I wasn't going to need this appointment. Carter Cole was due the 13th .. I was surely going to have a baby by then but I was wrong to laugh. That appointment meant that we had no baby & I was 4 days past due. Long story short I still hadn't began to dilate. I was having very minor irregular contractions & some aches and pains in my hips and lower back but my doctor was not letting Carter Cole & I reach 42 weeks. We scheduled our induction for Sunday, June 21st at 7:30 pm and we crossed our fingers & prayed that we wouldn't make it to our scheduled induction and that labor would begin on it's own before that Sunday.

Saturday, June 20, 2015
Here we were 1 week past due, no signs of labor and we were still waiting.

Sunday, June 21, 2015
Our scheduled induction day.. Most of the details from during this day are still a blur in my mind. I remember feeling so many different emotions. Our check in time at the hospital was 7:30 pm & my patience had been thrown out the window the day before when I was a week past due! My last month of pregnancy had gone on for what felt like forever.. I spent my entire pregnancy looking forward to a "due date" and when that date came and went I felt like I was living the longest days ever. That was exactly it, my induction day was the longest day EVER. With no labor activity we spent another day out in Perdido Key at the beach front pool swimming & soaking up some sun. I can't exactly say that it was a relaxing day since I spent it counting down the hours to our hospital check in. I was looking forward to one thing & one thing only and that was meeting our baby boy!

At 7:30 pm we arrived at the hospital & started the paperwork & check in process. Since labor didn't happen naturally for us like I had wanted we started the induction process. I was hooked up to the contraction and baby heart beat monitors and was given my first dose of Cytotec (medication used to induce labor and soften the cervix) at 8:30 pm. During the next 4 hours I began having contractions. My contractions were uncomfortable but nothing I couldn't breathe through at this point. Bo (my Husband) & my Mama were with me in our room to help pass the time.. both of them will tell you a very funny & dramatic story about how my room felt like Antarctica since I had the air set to 55 degrees. I had maybe slept for an hour and a half at this point, I was so anxious for results that it was hard for me to relax.

Monday, June 22, 2015
I was checked at 12:30 am and had dilated to a 1. Just a 1? I was so disappointed to hear that in 4 hours my cervix had only dilated a small amount. To begin Pitocin (medication used to induce labor and speed up labor process) I needed to be dilated to a 4 so I was given another dose of Cytotec.

I was checked again at 4:30 am and had only dilated to a 2. During those 4 hours my contractions increased in strength. We had progress.. it may have been small progress but I was thrilled & at that time I decided we would go ahead and get my epidural started so that we could stay ahead of labor pain. At 4:30 am I was given a third dose of Cytotec so that I could continue dilating.

At 5:30 am I was greeted by the anesthesiologist and boy, was I happy to see him! Relief came within minutes of my epidural. Bo & my Mama will tell you that I thanked him more times than I should have in the short time that he was in our room. What can I say he made the next hour and a half enjoyable. So enjoyable I was able to relax. Time went by quickly, my contractions were manageable and they were able to watch and keep time on the monitor.

* Let me add that throughout our stay at the hospital and during the labor & delivery process we were blessed with amazing care! Our nurses were so sweet and will hold a special place in my heart. I had made our Labor & Delivery Nurses Thank-You Bags (see previous post) to thank them for their hard work. Even though I felt like those Thank You Bags weren't enough to truly show them how appreciative we were it was the least we could do!

At 7:00 am it was shift change for the nurses.. our nurse Jackie that we had started the induction process with was leaving us and now we said hello to nurse Megan. At this point both of them were in our room to "report", check my contraction monitor & Carter Cole's heart beat monitor and check my dilation. Unfortunately, there was more disappointment.. I was still only at a 3. Another contraction came and went this time we could no longer hear Carter Cole's heart beat. I immediately felt an unexplainable amount of anxiety and worry for both myself and for Carter. The two of them immediately rolled me onto my side & gave me an oxygen mask for Carter Cole. His heart beat became louder and louder over the monitor. I felt a small amount of relief. Within the next hour this continued to happen with each contraction. At one point Bo, my Mama and all of the nurses on shift were in our room. Each time I would have a contraction Carter's heart beat would drop causing distress. Even though no one was saying much I could tell something was wrong as each contraction passed the nurses would flood into our room.. check the monitors, check my blood pressure & roll me on my side. I began to stress not for me but for Carter. I remember looking over at Bo & my Mama who had been standing at my bedside the entire time. I felt so much support from the two of them by my side, they both kept reassuring me that we were going to be okay. I wanted to cry. I needed to be strong though for Carter. All I wanted was to hear him cry. I loved being able to hear Carter Cole's heart beat on the monitor until now.

At 8:00 am my Doctor came into our room during his morning rounds. In the few minutes that he was in our room he explained our delivery choices either continue having contractions & start a dose of Pitocin to speed up labor and risk Carter's heart beat dropping each time or we could opt for a caesarean section. I wish I could say that Bo & I discussed this decision in those minutes my Doctor was in the room, we didn't even make eye contact there was no time for that.. C-section it was! All of my reasons for not wanting to have a C-section flew out the window. All I wanted was to hear him cry! (A couple days later Bo & I talked about the decision for a C-section. He supported my decision & we agreed that we wanted whatever it took to ensure having a healthy baby.) Keep in mind that my doctor made it clear that this wasn't an "emergency" C-section but what he called a "rush". Not that I was feeling any better by that statement I was still worried & apprehensive.. I had never had a major surgery until now. The questions & thoughts going through my head were a whirlwind. The next half hour can be described as a shuffle of scrubs, surgery preparations & what felt like organized chaos. Before I knew it, all of the nurses & Bo were wearing scrubs, the anesthesiologist came back into our room to discuss pain medication, I was being prepped for surgery & unhooked from the machines in our room to be wheeled down the hallway to the Operating Room. During all of this both my Mama & our nurse Megan were saying everything that I needed to hear! My Mama reassuring me that this C-section would all be worth it in just a short time & nurse Megan talking me through the procedure process.

I remember being wheeled down the hallway & into the Operating Room. I had to be prepped for surgery. This was the first time I had seen my Doctor since he was in our room earlier he began to talk me through the caesarean section process. I couldn't focus on what he was saying. The room was so white & bright. Both of my arms were being strapped down to the table. The room was so cold I could see myself shivering. I kept asking for Bo & where he was since he couldn't be in the Operating Room until I was completely prepped. Nurse Megan held my hand until Bo was allowed in the room. I don't know if she was supposed to be doing something else during that time but for me she was the strength I needed when all I wanted to do was burst into tears. Finally, Bo was allowed in the room. My Mama was going to be in the room for Carter's delivery to take pictures but since I was having a C-section only Bo was allowed in there with me. The first words out of his mouth were "It's okay, I have the camera" & in that moment I needed to hear that... I laughed for the first time since we had checked in at the hospital. Bo & I both laughed, smiled, said I love you & just talked. Neither one of us can recall exactly what we talked about though. In the next 10 minutes I felt so much tugging & pressure but surprisingly no pain. The anesthesiologist stood directly over my head & talked me through when to inhale & exhale as the doctor was pushing the baby out. Before I knew it we had our baby boy! I was able to breathe again there was so much going on that the rest of the procedure went by quickly. I felt so accomplished and blessed in the moments to follow.

Everything happened so quickly in that 1 hour. At 9:14 am Carter Cole NeSmith had finally made his arrival via C-section! All I wanted was to hear him cry & it was exactly what I needed to hear. Carter Cole weighed 8 pounds 5 ounces & measured 21 inches long he was healthy & perfect! What more could we have asked for. I was able to hold our sweet baby boy in the Operating Room as they finished the clean-up process & again as we were wheeled down the hallway back to our room for recovery. In those moments looking at him I fell head over heels in love. I didn't get to push for Carter Cole like I had planned to but everything that we had just been through was worth it!

I feel so blessed every time I get to share Carter Cole's birth story! It may not have been the perfect labor & delivery but it was ours & that's what makes it so special. We welcomed a healthy baby boy into the world & now we are enjoying #lifewithcartercole .

Labor and Delivery Nurse Thank-You Bags

Hey y'all! I had been planning on putting together thank-you bags for the labor and delivery nurses who would take care of Carter Cole & I during our stay at the hospital even before we got pregnant thanks to my addiction to searching Pinterest for hours (seriously I could plan another wedding, host 3 baby showers, 2 birthday parties & redecorate our entire house .. haha but that's to be talked about later). During my pregnancy we had made a couple visits up to the labor and delivery floor before our actual delivery and each time I realized how grateful I was to be treated with amazing care! The labor and delivery nurses were always so sweet. I felt like it's the least we could do for how hard they work!

Here's what I included in our thank-you bags:

- Chapstick
- Gum
- Full Size Candy Bar
- Mentos
- Pocket Size Hand Sanitizer
- Granola Bar
- Fruit Snacks

I added all of the treats to the thank-you bags, tied them with ribbon and added the tags that I made for each bag. I ended up making 12 bags total (making sure we'd have enough to give a bag to every nurse that cared for Carter Cole & I throughout our stay at the hospital).

Our thank-you bags were a huge hit with our nurses and it was really the least we could do to say "thanks" for all they did for us during our stay! We gave one to the doctor and the anesthesiologist as well and they loved them too! It's really the least we could do for the big role they all played in bringing our Carter Cole into the world!

* I made sure to include a variety of treats in our thank-you bags so that not all of the bags were alike. Each one of our thank-you bags came out to cost about $5.00 with sales tax. Chapstick $1.00, Gum $0.74, Candy Bar $0.98, Mentos $0.52, Hand Sanitizer $0.67, Granola Bar $0.40, Fruit Snacks $0.33 I figured out the price per item based on how many came per package or how many like items I bought! I knew that I wanted our nurses to have the best thank-you bags I could put together, feel free to change up the items included or add your own favorite "thank-you" items to the mix!

Baby Shower Hostess Thank-You Bags

Hey y'all, I wanted to put together thank-you bags for the hardworking ladies that hosted our baby shower's! Carter Cole, Bo & I are all so spoiled to have so many people in our lives who love us. I made sure that the thank-you bags were full of useful items so that each time they used them they would think of the NeSmith Family!

Here's what I included in our thank-you bags:

- Full Size Hand Soap
- 16 oz. Mason Jar Tumbler
- Chapstick
- Gum
- Pocket Size Hand Sanitizer

I added all of the treats to the thank-you bags, tied them with ribbon and added the tags. I ended up making 9 bags total one for each hostess! Our thank-you bags were a huge hit & everyone loved them!

* I made sure to include a variety of treats in our thank-you bags so that not all of the bags were alike. Each one of our thank-you bags came out to cost about $12.00 with sales tax. Chapstick $1.00, Gum $0.74, Hand Sanitizer $0.67, Full Size Hand Soap $2.89, Mason Jar Tumbler $5.99 . I figured out the price per item based on how many came per package or how many like items I bought! I knew that I wanted our hostess' to have the best thank-you bags I could put together, feel free to change up the items included or add your own favorite "thank-you" items to the mix!
